The Small Business Technology and Development Centers are an extension service administered by NC State and run in partnership with the SBA. SBTDC offices are generally located in or near campuses of the UNC system. In WNC, the SBTDC operates offices in Asheville and in Cullowhee (on the campus of WCU). Their mission is to provide business advice, counseling and education to small and mid-sized businesses.

The SBTDC's services fall along the following lines:

Most services are free; all services are confidential.
