Mountain BizWorks Mountain BizWorks is a non-profit organization that provides training and financing for small business owners in western North Carolina. Mountain BizWorks was originally founded in 1989 as Mountain Microenterprise Fund. Originally, the organization worked through the NC Rural Economic Development Center to provide loans for entrepreneurs, but since 2004, Mountain BizWorks has ceased using funds from the Rural Center and created its own loan program known as Mountain BizCapital which offers loans of up to $50,000.

SCORE: Counselors to America’s Small Business PDF Print E-mail

SCORE SCORE is a non-profit organization that partners with the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) and receives funding from it. The organization was formed in 1964 to help promote small businesses. SCORE is a national organization and has over 400 offices throughout the country. There are offices currently in Hendersonville, Brevard, Rutherfordton, and Franklin.

Small Business Technology and Development Center (SBTDC) PDF Print E-mail

SBTDC The Small Business Technology and Development Centers are an extension service administered by NC State and run in partnership with the SBA. SBTDC offices are generally located in or near campuses of the UNC system. In WNC, the SBTDC operates offices in Asheville and in Cullowhee (on the campus of WCU). Their mission is to provide business advice, counseling and education to small and mid-sized businesses.

NC Sitesearch North Carolina Site Search offers a database-driven search that allows users to sort both available properties and sites in North Carolina. Sites can be "certified" which means that they have undergone tests to make sure they are already compliant in areas such as: Phase I environmental audits, geo-technical studies, topographic analysis and maps, aerial photography, the availability of public utilities and industrial quality power.
