Agency Sources There are many organizations that exist to assist in providing economic data. Here, our goal is to organize and explain these various data sources.

We group these organizations into three primary categories: national groups (like the US Census); state groups (like the NC Rural Center) and finally, other sources who don't fall easily into either of the other two categories.

Quick Facts: US Census

US Census

U.S. Census Bureau

*Collects actual population and demographic data every 10 years to include legal and non-legal citizens.
*Next census will occur in 2010 - current Census data are generally projections based on 2000 Census - thus, the data is old.
*Estimates yearly change in population and demographic data every year on July 1.
