Jackson Population Growth Jackson County had considerable population growth in the last 37 years, growing at 67.07%.
Economists project the county to grow a noteworthy 44.38% (16,120 people) over the next 23 years while the western North Carolina region is expected to grow 25.56% (282,000 people).
While the under 25 population accounted for over 50% of Jackson County residents in 1970, today that demographic represents around 36% of total population.
Also of interest is the projected relative slowdown of Jackson's growth over the current decade (+14.90%) compared to that of North Carolina overall (+18.10%).
