Jackson County is a safe place to live relative to state violent and property crime rates. Only 3.62 violent crimes and 29.73 property crimes occur per 1000 residents in Jackson County while 4.9 violent crimes and 41.11 property crimes occur per 1000 residents throughout the state of North Carolina. The availability of physicians in Jackson County enhances the quality of life for county residents, as citizens require continuous healthcare. The county contains 36.36% more primary care physicians per 1000 residents and 9.22% more total physicians per 1000 residents than the state of North Carolina. For the twenty years between 1985 and 2005, Jackson County experienced a 115% increase in primary care physicians.
